Sunset Cinema

That’s right folks it’s Sunset Season and Canberra’s favourite outdoor cinema is back for its 9th year! Opening its gates in the lush surrounds of the Australian National Botanic Gardens, Sunset Cinema will be bringing their signature mix of new release blockbusters, all time classics and family favourites from under the stars this summer.

There’s a spectacular stockpile of long-awaited film titles including two new Marvel action blockbusters, Spiderman: No Way Home and Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings. With a chance to catch Disney’s animated adventure Encanto and not forgetting the most anticipated film of the year No Time to Die, patrons can finally once again experience movies on the big screen.

Dig out your Santa hats for a week of Christmas flicks with holiday classics Home Alone and Love Actually and round up the family up for new release A Boy Called Christmas to get you in the festive spirit.

Running Wednesday through to Saturday across 3 jam-packed months, hungry movie lovers can savour the summer evenings with delicious fare from Boss Burger’s food truck or pre-order your grazing platter for a delicious selection of cheeses and nibbles. Forget queuing you can now order from the online menu app onsite then just sit back and relax; you’ll get a text when your food is ready to collect!

Ease into evening at the Sunset Bar and sample one of the refreshing beverages on offer. Sunset has teamed up with Greenalls Gin and StrangeLove mixers to create the perfectly paired G&T. For the discerning palate try a premium glass from Fowles Wines or frothy cold one from our selection of craft beers from Big Drop brewing Co.

Treat yourself and snuggle up on a ridiculously comfy bean lounger in the lawn lounge or pick up a Sunset bean bag and spread out your blankets with a picnic. Don’t forget to stock up all your fave movie snacks including Sunset’s famous freshly popped popcorn and classic choc tops at our snack bar.

To ensure a fun, safe experience for everyone the event will include touch free entry, QR code check in through the CBR app and larger seating areas. The gates open at 6.30pm, so come and enjoy the alfresco atmosphere before settling in for your movie experience.

Capacity is also reduced this year so don’t miss out, check out the website for the movie program and full event info
