NAIDOC Week – Symbols and Clay – Monday 5 July 2021

10am – 11:30am or
1:30pm-3pm | $20 per child

Learn about symbols used in Aboriginal artwork and get creative with clay.

Lead by Ngarigo woman and artist Gail Neuss, Indigenous Tourism Officer at the National Arboretum Canberra.

Recommended ages 8 yrs +. Drop the kids off, enjoy a walk or relaxing afternoon tea!

NAIDOC Week – Storytime & Craft – Tuesday 6 July 2021

10am – 11:30am or
1:00pm-2.30pm | $15 per child

Ngarigo woman and artist Gail Neuss will read “Little Bird’s Day”, a story by renowned Indigenous children’s author Sally Morgan, a Palyku woman from the Pilbara. Little Bird’s Day is exquisitely illustrated by Johnny Warrkatja Malibirr – Yolgnu man from the Ganalbingu clan.

Take inspiration from this story and the pictures to create a kurrajong pod bird using feathers and paint pens to decorate .

Recommended ages 4 – 7 years.  Parent/carer must stay for the duration of the workshop.

NAIDOC Week – Yarning Sticks – Weds 7 July 2021

10am – 11:30am or 1:30am – 3pm
$15 per child

Yarning sticks circles bring families together. Hear Narigo woman and artist Gail Neuss talk about natural materials used to create art, explore a hands on artefact display and create your own yarning stick.

Create your story with sticks wrapped in yarn, feathers, bone and seedpods whilst having a yarn with Gail.

Suitable for all ages. This is a family activity, parents must stay for the duration of the workshop.

Stories in the Forest – 28, 29 and 30 June 2021

10am – 11:30am
$15 per child

Rug up and join Heather who will lead you through the 100 year old cork oak forest on a fairy quest. Someone or something has stolen winter and we need to find out who!  Learn why forests need winter to thrive through this fun educational activity.

Accompanying adults are required to stay and are free.
