Braddon Busking Festival
On Sunday 20 October 2019, the Braddon Collective will hold its very first event: the inaugural Braddon Busking Festival, with support from the ACT Government under the City Renewal Authority’s City Grants Program.
The Festival is open to performers in the Canberra region – music or other performance – and will be held in Lonsdale, Mort and Elouera Streets in Braddon from 11am – 7pm.
Performers can compete for prizes and entry into the annual Australian National Busking Championships in Cooma in November 2019. Prizes include: Primary School, Secondary School, Open, Judges’ Award and People’s Choice.
Prizes will be awarded at a ‘busk off’ at 4pm for children (18 and under), and 6pm for adult performers.
Visitors to the Festival will vote for their favourite buskers with ‘busking coins’. These will be available at participating stores in Braddon on the day of the Festival. Visitors can also tip their favourite buskers.
This is the first Canberra festival dedicated to music and other performing buskers. It is run by the Braddon Collective, a local community group. The Braddon Collective is committed to ensuring the event is sustainable, in accordance with the ACTSmart Public Event Program.
